Location: Canterbury

Price: £95

Prepare to leave this workshop with a different perspective on how to improve your core!

Your core is really everything that your arms and legs attach to from your pelvic floor to the chest. Full participation of the core depends on movements and mobilities in the hands, arms, legs, pelvis, spine and ribs and core strength depends on how much we move and load those parts throughout the day. In this workshop we will focus on all of this! We will also practice some natural movements that load the core in a dynamic way such as crawling, walking and carrying and at least some of this we will take outside on a walk.

This is designed for everyone; accessible for beginners and stimulating for more experienced movers.

In this workshop we will:

» investigate movements outside of the “core” and “pelvic floor” that optimize the function of those areas.
» Investigate how you hold your body as you move impacts how much the core can participate in supporting your movement
» learn some foundational exercises for the upper and lower body that will help the core and pelvic floor participate more as you move, as well as some targeted movements for the abdominal musculature itself.
» practice some natural movements (breathing, walking, carrying and crawling) with a focus on optimizing core muscle use.

YOU WILL COME AWAY WITH

» A new sense of how your core works.
» A much broader awareness of how your core and pelvic floor integrates into whole body movement.
» A suite of exercises with suitable progressions for you to practice at home.

WORKSHOP FORMAT

This workshop will be held on a Friday. At least part of the day will be spent outside on a walk. For the majority of the workshop we will be moving!
